Australian duo boredslide return with '(feels like) nothing at all', a sombre and reflective new single arriving on Friday 26 June as part of their ambitious 2026 release project, which sees the band share a new song every fortnight across the year.
The latest project from Melbourne musicians Nick Bond and Carlos Tinsey (Kitschen Boy, DIET), boredslide is built around a simple self-imposed rule: release one track every two weeks, with no song exceeding two minutes in length. Drawing inspiration from post-punk, shoegaze, jangle rock and bedroom pop, the duo have developed a sound that feels both fleeting and immediate, hazy, melodic snapshots that know exactly when to leave.
While many of the project's releases have embraced a playful or tongue-in-cheek sensibility, '(feels like) nothing at all' occupies more introspective territory. Built around chiming guitars, understated melodies and a sense of quiet resignation, the track explores the process of releasing negativity and accepting circumstances beyond your control.
Speaking on the song, the duo explain:
"Our writing and producing process is fairly consistent after so many reps, but the tone and subject matter of our tracks can vary a fair bit. There are plenty of goofy, happy-go-lucky tracks out there, but this track is pretty sombre. It's about letting go of negativity by letting it wash over you - I suppose that makes it pretty cathartic as well."
The song's central refrain, "It's not what I want, it's nothing at all / Take all that you want, it's nothing at all", captures this feeling of surrender, while lyrics about opening floodgates and weathering difficult emotions point towards renewal rather than defeat.
Despite operating with minimal fanfare and a DIY ethos, boredslide's relentless release schedule has steadily attracted attention throughout 2026. The project has earned national community radio support, charting on the AMRAP charts, and received recognition from tastemakers including David Dean Burkhart, triple j, KEXP and birp.fm.
'(feels like) nothing at all' continues the journey towards 'ltd. express', a cassette compilation due at the end of 2026 that will serve as the only physical release of the project. For boredslide, the goal has never been perfection but momentum, capturing ideas in motion and letting them exist exactly as they are.
With 26 songs slated for release across the year, boredslide are proving that consistency can be its own creative statement.
'(feels like) nothing at all' is out everywhere now.
