Classic Face arrive swinging with debut single Pneumasthmatic, a spiralling, high-voltage burst of new wave panic-pop that feels like a nervous breakdown you can dance to. Out June 19 via Auxiliary Records, the track introduces a band completely uninterested in restraint, subtlety, or sitting still for even a second.

Classic Face make the most propulsive, high-energy new wave you’ve heard this side of the Cold War. Their music carries the full weight of life: young families, weddings, break-ups, chronic illness, strange obsessions, anxiety spirals and the endless fight to keep moving forward. There’s always a sense that something unexpected is about to happen.

The project features Michael Strong (vocals, keys, samples), Veronica Zurzolo (bass, vocals), Axel Carrington (guitar) and Mick Colangelo (drums). The music is composed, performed, and arranged by Classic Face in a rehearsal studio, with lyrics by Michael Strong, who also produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered the recordings.

Built from relentless drums, jagged guitars and hooks stacked on hooks stacked on more hooks, Pneumasthmatic captures the sensation of trying to push through life while your body and brain threaten total revolt. Equal parts euphoric release and emotional collapse, the single balances chaos with precision, exploding outward before pulling unexpectedly into moments of vulnerability.

Restless, urgent and impossible to ignore, Pneumasthmatic is an explosive introduction to a band already sounding fully realised in their own strange universe, where new wave, post-punk, maximalist pop and emotional freefall all collide at once.
