Dolce Blue Enter Their Villain Era on ‘Waste Your Time’

A seductive noir-pop single embracing glamour, jealousy and emotional sabotage.

Australian indie-pop outfit Dolce Blue step into darker, more dangerous territory on new single ‘Waste Your Time’ - a cinematic pop release that trades dreamy melancholy for sleek synths, sharp edges and emotional manipulation dressed in leopard print and old Hollywood glamour.

Co-produced between Australia and the UK with acclaimed producer Simon Ellis (Spice Girls, Britney Spears, S Club), ‘Waste Your Time’ marks a bold sonic shift for the band, leaning further into noir-inspired storytelling and glossy alt-pop production while retaining the emotional intensity that has become synonymous with Dolce Blue’s world.

Told from the perspective of the mistress, the “other woman,” the goomar, the beautiful mistake everyone was warned about, ‘Waste Your Time’ is seductive, self-aware and quietly destructive. Rather than pleading innocence, the track embraces emotional inevitability, delivering a cool confession wrapped in shimmering synths and late-night tension: “don’t try to love her, babe, because she’s only going to waste your time”.

Frontwoman Veronica shares:

“I wanted the song to feel like a warning wrapped in something glamorous. It’s written from the perspective of someone who already knows they’re the wrong choice, but there’s something seductive about that honesty.”

“A lot of the imagery around this release comes from old crime films, mob-wife glamour and femme fatales, people who use elegance almost like armour. I think there’s a confidence in admitting who you are before somebody else can weaponise it against you.”

The release also launches a new visual era for Dolce Blue, inspired by noir cinema, surveillance imagery, mafia aesthetics and vintage fashion editorials. Ahead of the single announcement, the band began rolling out a cryptic social media campaign in which Veronica slowly “takes over” the band’s online presence, with members getting kidnapped, captions becoming increasingly ominous, and the narrative culminating in a ransom-style reveal video teasing the release.

Blurring the line between performance art and promotion, the rollout mirrors the themes of control, power and emotional manipulation embedded within the track itself.

Already known for their atmospheric live performances and cinematic songwriting, Dolce Blue have continued building momentum through a string of notable live appearances across Western Australia. Recent highlights include performances at WA Day Festival, Bloom festival, and Blues at Bridgetown Festival, as well as supporting acclaimed Australian acts Eliza & The Delusionals, and Death By Denim.

Fans can catch Dolce Blue live on 12 June at The Bird for the Auxiliary Records Launch, before the band heads to CubyGroove Festival from 18-20 September. More info via www.dolce-blue.com
