Simone Strauss unleashes empowering new single 'Insatiable'
Naarm/Melbourne-based singer-songwriter and producer Simone Strauss returns with her most electrifying release yet: INSATIABLE, an unapologetic blend of electronic dance and alt-pop that celebrates resilience, liberation and survival in the face of betrayal.
Pairing euphoric synths with raw lyricism, INSATIABLE captures the duality of partying through pain and reclaiming control. As Simone explains:
“INSATIABLE is an introspective yet uplifting blend of electronic dance and pop, exploring the stoicism that comes with the feeling of betrayal. It tells the story of partying through pain and escaping the chaos within; keeping up appearances, reclaiming control and refusing to give anyone the satisfaction of seeing you fall apart. The empowering lyrics about resilience combined with the euphoric synths create a mood that feels both defiant and liberating. At its core, the track is fuelled by a relentless determination to own your messes and succeed. INSATIABLE is a celebration of surviving what was meant to break you and a reminder that strength isn’t always about having it all together, but about knowing you’ll rise above it.”
The track’s creative process was equally personal, beginning with Simone’s own writing and vocal recording, which was later developed in collaboration with long-time collaborators Veronica Zurzolo (composer) and Nic Rollo (producer/mixing/ mastering engineer). True to her immersive style, Simone co-produced the track, meticulously shaping each layer to reflect her vision of a “fun yet defiant party anthem.”
A self-proclaimed “temu Charli XCX,” Simone has been carving out her place in the Australian music landscape since her debut in 2021. Her debut album, traumatised (2022), set the tone for her diaristic storytelling, while recent singles no better than you and We’ll Never Be Friends gained support on triple j and triple j Unearthed. With INSATIABLE, Simone leans deeper into the electronic/dance world, drawing influence from trailblazers like Charli XCX, Ninajirachi, Logic1000 and Charlotte de Witte, while retaining the emotional depth of artists like Olivia Rodrigo and Jessie Reyez.
